Temporary Closure of All Park Trails Due to Bear Activity

For the safety of park visitors and bears, all park trails and the Kaasdaa Héen (Indian River) area within the park boundaries are temporarily closed effective as of 6:00 pm, October 12, 2021. See attached map. The closure is due to increased observation of bears. KNP Complex North and South Zones Update, October 13, 2021

Jerri Marr Named Superintendent of Colonial National Historical Park

National Park Service Regional Director Gay Vietzke has named Jerri Marr as the new superintendent of Colonial National Historical Park, effective November 21. Horseshoe Bend Selected as Leave No Trace Hot Spot

As visitation to outdoor spaces continues to grow exponentially, the Horseshoe Bend Overlook at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area was chosen as a Hot Spot by the Leave No Trace organization. From November 4 through 8, a Leave No Trace Team will work with Glen Canyon staff to provide the local community, area land managers, park partners, and student volunteers with information, service work and education to reduce impacts in the outdoors and to recreate responsibly. https://www.nps.gov/glca/learn/news/20211013.htm

Winter Hours Begin October 24, 2021 at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania NMP

Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania NMP will be adjusting visitor services beginning October 24, 2021 for the upcoming winter season. Calumet Visitor Center Hours Transition

Keweenaw National Historical Park is pleased to announce continued visitor center hours into spring of 2022. KNHP Advisory Commission to Meet

The Keweenaw National Historical Park Advisory Commission will convene virtually for its regular quarterly meeting at 1:00pm on Monday October 18th, 2021. The meeting will be held in-person at the Keweenaw National Historical Park Headquarters building.
