For the safety of park visitors and bears, all park trails and the Kaasdaa Héen (Indian River) area within the park boundaries are temporarily closed effective as of 6:00 pm, October 12, 2021. See attached map. The closure is due to increased observation of bears. The National Park Service (NPS) has awarded a $3.3 million contract for the extensive rehabilitation of the historic Fort Donelson National Battlefield Visitor Center.
